Screenings under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act:


What is a screening?

A screening is a systematic approach to documenting the environmental effects of a proposed project and determining the need to eliminate or minimize (mitigate) the adverse effects, to modify the project plan or to recommend further assessment through mediation or an assessment by a review panel. (CEAA)

  Effective environmental assessments include:
  right arrow identifying and predicting environmental effects,
  right arrow scoping,
  right arrow involving the public,
  right arrow mitigating environmental effects,
  right arrow evaluating significance and
  right arrow reporting EA findings


Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments for Upstream Oil & Gas Facilities

For spills involving produced water and hydrocarbons, HCL will conduct a Phase II ESA of the spill site as per the Salt Contamination and Remediation Guideline (SCARG) and the Alberta Soil and Water Quality Guidelines for Hydrocarbons at Upstream Oil and Gas Facilities (ASWQG).
